IRAQ WAR RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT WOMEN IN COMBAT
■ Before and during the most intense weeks of combat operations in Iraq, CMR received numerous calls from media people seeking information on the new rules affecting military women deployed in the Battle of Iraq. The April 2003 CMR Report on that subject, as posted on www.cmrlink.org, provided accurate information for all callers.
Elaine Donnelly was quoted in the New York Times, Time, San Diego Union-Tribune, Washington Times, Miami Herald, Detroit News, Baltimore Sun, Human Events, Chicago Tribune, National Review Online, WorldNetDaily, Cybercast News Service (CNS), and several international newspapers. She also appeared several times on television networks Fox News, CNN, PBS and MSNBC, and countless radio network programs.
■ On May 14 and 22, respectively, Donnelly addressed a luncheon meeting of the Bloomfield Republican Women’s Club, hosted by Violet Vestevich, and the 9th Congressional District Republicans, headed by Glenn Clark.
■ At the White House Correspondents Dinner on April 26, as the guest of Washington Times Editor in Chief Wesley Pruden, Donnelly enjoyed talking with Marine Commandant Gen. Michael W. Hagee, Managing Editor Francis Coombs, reporters Rowan Scarborough and Bill Sammon, Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD), plus many others at the formal event attended by President and Mrs. George W. Bush.
■ On April 1 Abby Moffat introduced Elaine Donnelly to The Study Group, a large, informal discussion group of women in the Washington D.C. area who are interested in foreign policy and other government issues.
■ After participating in a panel discussion at the annual Conservative Political Action
Conference (Jan. 31) together with Oliver North and Gary Aldrich, Elaine Donnelly spoke at a national conference of the Cardinal Mindzenty Foundation in Anaheim California (Feb. 1), as the guest of President Eleanor Schlafly.
■ On Feb. 3 Barbara Woodbury hosted a private and very enjoyable reception for Donnelly, which was attended by a number of friends in the San Diego area.
